chopper time and 49 pictures

Here is a neat picture of the silver paint on the case from when the welch plug was put into the right case of Jerry's 49.

Check out the red sealer on the oil filter canister top.

This is a 47 saddle bag.

And this is a 48 bag. They are pretty damn cool.

These are some brackets that I cut off of a reproduction front fork. They are for the front brake shackle and the fender mounts

I never thought that I would get to trim a fork. I am sending it off to a friend to section and narrow it for a bobber project.

VARD FRONT END!!!

This is the coolest part that we scored at Davenport. This is an original vard front end. I have only seen one other one in real life. This is such a neat front end!!!!


The triple trees are bronze, and have an offset built into them, just like offset forks. It looks a little exaggerate in this pic because of the taper that is built into the sand cast fork covers.



Here is the all business shot. this front end is the coolest. Check out the special flanders risers. I have a set of n.o.s. hellings and stellings bars that I am going to run with this front end.

mounting up cas aluminum floorboards

A couple of weeks ago I did a post about some aluminum floorboards that I had just gotten in. I had a couple sets made up, I really wanted a set for the silver bobber. I used the same brackets to mount them, but I couldn't really drill and tap the floorboard, so I machined up these 12-24 aluminum plugs to press into the board.

In this pic you can see the board clamped to the table of the mill and getting machined for the plug. I believe that I counter bored the hole to a depth of .300. The plugs that I made have a .005 press fit, which is ideal for aluminum. I am still going to weld them in, just for the sake of safety.

three 41 knuckleheads!!!

Sorry for the delay guys, I haven't had time to pick my nose for the last week and a half, let alone update this site. I have a ton of great pics and stories that I will be uploading over the next couple of days.


The red 41 closest to us in this pic belongs to Elton from Texas, he is a cool dude, and rode out to New York with my dad and Cary. The black 41 belongs to Cary.



It is kind of a rare thing to see three 41 knuckleheads in one spot. The first red one is our 41 EL, it only had 7,000 miles on it when we got it.

Special tool bulletin!!!!!

Check it out guys, this is the tool for holding backup on hollow axle sleeve on a springer. It probably works on hydra glides too, but I have not had a chance to try it out on a rocket ship yet. It was extremely difficult to make this complicated tool, I probably made a big mistake by posting this picture before I registered my idea at the patent office, but that is ok. I hope you guys can find some way to use this idea on your own personal bike.
